What I'm Loving This Week Dec 13-17, 2010

Review on Pink Glitter Boutique

One Saturday in October I was talking to my bestie, and she was telling me about being at a gig (she's a mua & hairstylist) and a young lady having a huge brush roll (a roll that holds all makeup brushes). We talked about how we would love to have a brush roll that's able to hold all our brushes and not have to carry around 3-4 at a time. After our intense discussion about brush rolls (lol), I told her that I would research and see if I can find one.

Now, I love shopping online and one day I was searching to see if I can find anything new on esty.com and came across a cute boutique name Pink Glitter Boutique. Owner and creator Lindsay makes everything herself, a few things she makes are cosmetic bags, id wallets, and MAKEUP BRUSH ROLLS. I was so excited when I saw the rolls and the fabric were super cute. So, I decided to contact her and see if she was able to make me a custom order. Lindsay was very quick with her reply and informed me that she would be able to work with me and make a custom brush roll for me. I chose a pin up girl fabric that I fell in love with and chose a xxl size to be able to hold all my many brushes. Lindsay got to working on my order.

Lindsay is a fast worker and before the end of the week she was done with my custom order. I received it  and the packaging was so cute in pink tissue paper and a pink ribbon. I was able to fit 3 sets of brushes that include Royal & Langnickel, ELF Studio Line, and Urban Decay. I loved it so much that I had one custom made for the bestie's bday and she also fell in love with it as I did. Check out the picture below of my CUTE makeup brush roll.

BTOTW (Beauty Tip Of The Week) Dec 13-17, 2010

I have gotten a lot of clients asking about concealer and how it should be applied. It depends how you apply foundations and what type of foundation you apply. If you use mineral powder foundation you can conceal after your foundation (mineral powder also) and sweep a bit of finishing powder after to set. If your using liquid foundation you can apply concealer before and after. Depends if your contouring and how much your trying to conceal. Make sure to apply a setting powder after you have used concealer. It help the concealer set and not crease.

On my daily regular makeup routine, I like to conceal after my foundation and here are a few of my favorite concealers.

Review On Mario Badescu

The Drying Lotion is a fast acting, effective acne spot treatment. Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, this product will shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep. While other acne spot treatments can irritate and dry delicate or sensitive skin, this product is safe and effective for all skin types. 

INGREDIENTS: Isopropyl Alcohol, Deionized Water (Aqua), Calamine, Camphor, Colloidal Sulfur, Salicylic Acid,Glycerine, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Talc

For years I would see this on the back pages of several magazines. Dealing with adult acne myself and had tried almost everything I decided to give it a try. I purchased the drying lotion and told my son (he's 17 y.o and dealing with acne) that I had something new that might work for the both of us. First thing I did without reading was shake it. After turning the bottle around and reading it, I felt like a big dummy. It's reads in the back "Do not shake". lol I should have followed what they taught me in school and "follow directions".

After prepping my skin for my beauty sleep. Cleanse w/ Clarisonic using Juice Beauty or Philosophy Purity, Toner from Mario Badescu Special Cleansing Lotion C, and RareMinerals Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer. I followed the directions on the back (yes, I read) and applied on my "problem areas".

By the next morning those "problems areas" had dried out and gone down in size and that night I reapplied and by the night morning they were gone. GONE! The sulfur and salicylic acid help to kill the bacteria and dry the acne. The calamine helps soothe the skin from any irritation & redness, plus the camphor will help with any inflammation. Review On Urban Decay Brushes

In September when Urban Decay launched the UD Hearts NYC palette, they held a contest online on Facebook for the best picture from the event at Sephora Time Square (1500 Broadway) launch. The winner would receive the new and improved Urban Decay brush set. There was quite a bit of entries and a lot of good pictures and  I entered a few pictures and never thought of anything, until one day people were sending me congrats on Facebook. I was out running errands w/ the kiddo (my teenage son) and had no idea what people were talking about since they didn't specify what I won. Once I got home realize that I was the winner of the contest. Below is the winning picture. Yay Me!

Once I received the brushes I was super excited to see them! Each are package in a perfect box made out of recycled paper. They are not your normal wood handle makeup brushes. OH NO! They are made of  metal and made with super soft synthetic Taklon, a man-made fiber, so it's cruelty-free. They have some weight to them and are quality made. Overall, they are FANTASTIC brushes that I highly recommend. Thanks Urban Decay!!!!!
